1 Non-Paper Possible ideas for process to contribute to UNCTAD 50 and MDG review Background At the 59th session of the Trade and Development Board, member states of UNCTAD, including the Group of 77 and China, stressed the importance of the timely preparations for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of UNCTAD, as well as UNCTAD's contribution to the forthcoming review of the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals in 2015. To begin that process, the President of the Trade and Development Board will soon undertake informal consultations (possibly at the consultations of 12 October 2012) on how the process could be organized, including the ultimate objectives of the work in UNCTAD. Possible elements In this regard, the Group of 77 and China could suggest the following elements: The G77 and China should emphasize the importance of the two events, and hence the need to adequately prepare for them.
