“Last year, we faced relatively low track temperatures, with 24 °C during the Tissot Sprint and 28 °C for the Grand Prix. Given the heatwave that has been affecting Europe for several weeks, and bearing in mind that August is generally hotter than May, we have decided to increase the number of front-wheel compounds from two to three in order to cover a wider range of conditions. The compounds on offer are the same as those used last year. At the rear, however, the Soft compound has been modified to offer increased stiffness in order to cope better with potentially higher temperatures. The Medium compound, meanwhile, retains the technical specifications of last year’s tire. These adjustments do not present any particular difficulties, as we know the Silverstone circuit very well and have a wealth of data enabling us to fine-tune our tire package precisely.
