Those fears have been increased as the combination of lockdown and warm weather has meant more people are going into the river to swim or cool off. It follows worrying data obtained by The Guardian which shows raw sewage including untreated human waste was dumped in rivers on 200,000 occasions last year, including in the River Chess.
