Martha Inez Sanford Fletcher Martha Inez Sanford Fletcher, born January 25, 1932, in Springfield, Tennessee, was a lifelong Cumberland Presbyterian lay leader and community volunteer. The daughter of Emmett Clark Sanford and May Josephine Campbell Sanford, she married Robert Floyd Fletcher on July 14, 1951, and had three children. She died Wednesday March 14, 2012. A ruling elder at Mt. Denson Cumberland Presbyterian Church from 1973 to 1976, Fletcher served in nearly every aspect of congregational life, including teaching Sunday school, directing Vacation Church School, chairing committees, and holding leadership roles in the Cumberland Presbyterian Women’s Convention, where she was president from 1977 to 1978. She represented Nashville Presbytery at the 1984 General Assembly and contributed frequently to denominational publications. Active in civic affairs, Fletcher directed the Springfield YMCA Senior Citizens program, served as a Robertson County Farm Bureau director from 1970, and
