HISTORY or KNOXVILLE FIRST CUMBERLAND PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Knoxville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church has enjoyed a splendid history over her 103 year existence. Organized on March 22, 1885, First Church carried on her ministry in downtown Knoxville at 525 Broadway for over 90 years. The oriRinal buildinR bad two vestibules, but in 1911 a remodelinR effort completely altered the facade. The buildinR underwent two additional refurbisbings in 1945 and 1954. In September, 1975, the congregation moved into her lovely new facility in West Knoxville on 6900 Nubbin Ridge Drive. Five of our Pastors have served as Moderator of the General Assembly: A. W. Hawkins, E. K. Reagin, Charles R. Matlock. Paul F. Brown, J. David Hester. Of Associate or Assistant Min- isters, three have held office of Moderator of the General Assembly·:· C. Ray Dobbins, L. C.
