PRESBYTERIAN AUGUST 3,1971 The Truly Christian Man There wasn’t enough excitement, even when everybody stood up to sing “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name.” If we really believe that “God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself,” why, then, is there so little excitement? Why do we not “go to town”—to the world— believing that unto us has been committed the word of reconciliation? Perhaps the answer, cold, hard, and undebatable, lies in the fact that we no longer believe. The power of Christian witness throughout the ages has been in proportion to the total impact of Christ upon the life of the Christian messenger. The loving God who saves and redeems cannot be taken to the world by one who does not know Christ as Savior and Redeemer, Master and Friend. The man who has met God in Christ in a relation ship that transforms attitudes and motives, empowers the will, en compasses the entire personality—the truly Christian man—cannot forbear sharing this knowledge with others.
