"Samuel McAdow was born April IO,I760,in Guilford County, North Carolina,and was the youngest of eight children,four of whom were sons,"(I)."His mother 'was a very devout woman.He was converted when he was eleven years old,{in 1771). The first school he attended was taught by Dr. Caldwell, a Presbyterian minister.· The school was broken up by the Revolut•onary war. The war ended he complted his academic course in Mechlinburg College. Shortly after Ui/p.p-p:/Jfl,/..p{/J./1/1¢/l(t./., he was converted,he felt he ought to preach. He did not consent then, but his milld was not long at ease,for he was often reminded that he ought to enter the ministry.He was a married man,living on a farm when he consented to preach, 11 ( 2).
