This book is the story of a football club.
It’s not a famous one, well, not outside of the Hertfordshire town of Watford anyway!
But it was a club that was well known and well respected in local terms.
It was assumed that the football team started in 1900. Well that was wrong from the start. The football team didn’t come about until the merger of two printing companies and the relocation of the company's premises after the First World War.
As with all workplaces, this one had characters, it included a one armed player who was made club captain, while another one represented England in an international tournament!
Others were well known local heroes, even those who played on a pitch that was shared with some escaped cows from the local field!
The football club had its glory, and its pain too. From being one of the strongest teams in the county to becoming a bit of a laughing stock years later.
