If you are planning a renovation, retrofit, expansion, or adaptive reuse project in Austin, accurate existing conditions are not optional. They affect everything that comes after. Design work. Coordination. Budgeting. Permitting. Construction timelines. Even whether subcontractors can actually install what was drawn.
A surprising number of projects still begin with incomplete field measurements or outdated drawings. Sometimes the building plans are decades old. Sometimes they were modified during construction and never updated. Sometimes nobody knows which version is correct anymore. Then the architect or engineer starts modeling from information that is already wrong.
That creates problems fast.
Walls are not where they are supposed to be. Structural elements conflict with new MEP systems. Ceiling heights are different from the plans. Slopes are missed. Pipe runs do not match assumptions. By the time the contractor discovers it in the field, the project is already losing money.
