The following guide has been created for the purpose of raising awareness about the EFL teaching during times of crisis and emergency situations. The guide draws on the historical roots which deteriorated and made impossible education in Palestine and Syria, enabling this respective shift in teaching. Nevertheless, the complexity of the situation cannot but take into account the strengths and weaknesses of this rapid approach which subverts the conventional modes of teaching as well as of learning, decentralising what is known and redefining an unknown and sometimes reluctant mode of teaching. The guide addresses directly the benefits and the drawbacks for learners as well as for teachers and teacher assistants, highlighting the concerns which underlie the severity of the circumstances. The guide continues by addressing popular opinions on ERT teaching and learning something that contributes to underscoring the novel challenges – and later solutions -- ERT has been posing to Palestini
