Thomas Hoccleve was an early 15thC poet who lived and worked in London (Westminster and Aldwych respectively). His poetry is characterised by introspection and analysis of life. His relevance to the 21stC is in the insight he provides into the mental world of his time, creating a personalised and rounded image of what life is like, and was like between c. 1400 and 1425 (he died in 1426).
