A Nigerian Folktale: The Fisherman and The Princess Fish Once upon a time in a far way land, there lived a fisherman named A B Appa. He was a very poor fisherman who resided with his pregnant wife in a small hut. Despite their financial struggles, A B Appa was known for being kind and friendly to everyone in the village. One early morning, he set out to the village river as usual, hoping for a good catch. Little did he know that this day would change his life forever. As A B Appa arrived at the river, he encountered other fishermen who were also checking their traps. They exchanged pleasantries and continued with their fishing endeavors. However, to his disappointment, A B Appa's trap yielded very little fish. Disheartened, he contemplated whether to release the small fish back into the river or take it home.
