This seminar paper by Edime Godwin Amade (PhD) examines the root causes of political violence in Kogi East Senatorial District from 1999 to 2015. It analyzes the factors contributing to electoral conflicts, including youth unemployment, economic vulnerability, the struggle for political power, impunity, and hate speech by political actors. Using both qualitative and quantitative data, the study highlights how political parties, godfatherism, and the lucrative nature of political office fuel unrest. The paper ultimately suggests that good governance and political education are key solutions to curbing violence in the region.
