August 10, 2026 Where are the best territories for energy-efficient and climate-resilient data centers in Morocco? Ayat-Allah Bouramdane Data centers have become essential infrastructures for modern societies. Behind every video, online transaction, AI application or digital service, there are servers that require continuous electricity, cooling, water and high-speed connectivity. Morocco provides a relevant case study because of its high solar and wind potential, unevenly distributed digital infrastructure, concentration of major urban and economic hubs, and significant climatic and water constraints. This creates a geographical dilemma: the territories with the greatest renewable-energy potential are not always those with the best temperatures [1][2, Chapter 1] for cooling, the most abundant water resources, the strongest digital connectivity or the lowest exposure to climate risks.
