Toamasina Port development project, financed by the Japanese government through JICA and implemented by the Penta Ocean - Daiho Joint-Venture (PDJV) consortium, aims to modernize port infrastructure, increasing capacity, and facilitating trade. This project is part of the national maritime transport policy approved in 2020 and aims to reach a traffic volume of one million TEUs by 2035.
According to the January 2025 monthly report, the various components of the expansion project have reached an overall progress rate of 52.59%.
