REPRODUCTION IN AXOLOTS 1.SEXUAL MATURITY: Axolotls reach sexual maturity between 18 and 24 months of age, although it may vary depending on environmental conditions and food. 2,BREEDING SEASON: The breedingseason of axolotls is usually during the rainy season, which in their natural habitat occurs between the months of July and September. 3.COURTSHIP AND MATING: During courtship, males release pheromones to attract females. Once they meet, the male deposits a sperm capsule, called a spermatophore, in the substrate, and the female collects it with her cloaca to fertilize her eggs internally. 4. Spawning and Egg Laying: After mating, the female can lay between 100 and 300 eggs, depending on her size and health. They lay their eggs at the bottom of stagnant or shallow bodies of water, such as lagoons, ponds or canals. 5.
