2014 | Volume 2 Issue 3 Teamwork in HNL Officially made a holiday in 1929, the most common festivities on Lei Day are hula, Lei making demonstrations and contests and the crowning of the Lei Queen and her court. The record for the world’s longest Lei was set at the 81st celebration of Lei Day in 2008. Unofficially the Lei measured more than a mile in length. Lei Day is celebrated every year on May 1.
