Tykwer’s Shorn Heads in Perfume ario Cordina M Jan 2018 Tykwer’s Shorn Heads in Perfume Mario Cordina Jan 2018 This essay was inspired by the images of shaven headed female victims in Tom Tykwer’s 2006 Film, ‘Perfume. Story of a Murderer.’ These haunting images took me on an inspiring journey of films and images where shaven headed protagonists thread down the path of repetition, little or no replication, infidelity, betrayal, and memory. This approach to film adaptation was to investigate the film through the lens of the actual image and not through a traditional adaptation analysis. Just like Baldini, the idea was to blow out other perfumes before trying to decipher the film personally with a clean handkerchief. Attention was paid to the film script together with snapshots of the movie. This formed the groundwork for the essay.
