Indeed, they have had to absorb the financial impact of 10% to 15% of shipments being rejected due to ochratoxin levels (or, less frequently, aflatoxin levels) exceeding regulatory limits. This represents a direct loss to their operating results and could jeopardize the financial stability of some companies. Several businesses are already undergoing restructuring proceedings. A necessary adjustment? With more than 300 exporters active in the market, the sector urgently needs greater structure and transparency. From a financial perspective, even the strongest processors are facing significant working capital pressure, notably due to the lengthy delay associated with the return of rejected goods from European markets.
