This analytical review examines the scientific conception, structure, distinctive features, and principal results of the book “Subsurface Image and Estimation of Medium Parameters in Seismic Exploration.” Particular attention is given to the unified conceptual sequence from seismic imaging and focusing to wavefield kinematics and dynamics, medium-parameter estimation, interpretation, algorithms, and software implementation.
The review discusses the role of traveltime-field derivatives, the NIP theorem, multifocusing, kinematic filtering, the spherical-mirror method, seismic-stratigraphic stacking, migration and demigration, the inverse dynamic problem in a viscoelastic medium, RGB seismic imaging, and the CubeTechnology system.
