Frida Kahlo Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo Calderon was a Mexican painter. She was born on july 6, 1907 in Coyoacan, Mexico and died on July 13 , 1954. Her life was marked by the misfortune of suffering a serious accident in her youth that kept her in bed for long periods, and she had up to 32 surgeries. She led an unconventional life, her pictorial work revolved thematically around her biography and her own suffering. Diego Rivera was her husband and he was also a painter and together they shared many paintings. Frida Kahlo's mother was Matilde Calderon Gonzalez and her father was Gillem Kahlo. In 1939 she exhibited her paintings in France thanks to an invitation from Andre Breton who tried to convince her that they were surrealist although Kahlo said that she did not paint dreams but her own life. Her work achieved fame and true international recognition after her death especially in the late 1980. By Arale Hernandez
