Delegate: Ananya Satish School: International School of Queretaro Country: Ethiopia Committee: UNESCO Topic: Education: important pillar towards Health “It is health which is real wealth, and not pieces of gold and silver” -Mahatma Gandhi The importance of health education is to prevent illnesses, diseases, and helps people have a safer and longer life. Ethiopia is one of the least developed countries in Africa, and one of the consequences of that is the lack of health education. Ethiopians face many health problems, especially infectious diseases because of the sanitary conditions. The Government recognized that common poverty-related diseases like malaria or childhood illnesses have shortened Ethiopians’ life expectancy, although this has increased in recent decades, coinciding with economic progress.
