Certain sects value his fatawas and statements more, than they value the statements and fatwas of the Salaf. There are even people, if you tell them an ayah or hadith, they will ask you: “What did Ibn Taymiyyah say about this?” or: “Was this also the opinion of Ibn Taymiyyah?” Ibn Abbas, radhiAllahu anhu, said, when people opposed the sunnah with the words of Abu Bakr and Umar (radhiAllahu anhumma): “If you continue like this, soon the sky will fall over you (stones will rain on you). I say to you, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and you are telling me, Abu Bakr and Umar said."
