MECHANISMS The function of the machines is to reduce the effort necessary to perform a job. The machines are made up of a set of devices called MECHANISMS. WHAT IS A MECHANISM? The mechanisms are the parts of the machines in charge of transmitting ot transforming the energy received from the driving element, so that it can be used by the driven output elements that make the machines work. All the mechanisms are different. The only common factor is that, they make work easier because they transmit and transform force and motion. The mechanisms have four parts: 1. Input elements: what we put in. 2. Source: where something stars or come from. 3. Receptor: something that receives. 4. Output elements: the power or energy supplied by a device. There are three types of movement: 1. C ircular or rotatory motion (like the one with the wheels) 2. L inear motion straight and continuous line (how to raise a blind) 3. A lternative movement back and forth motion (like a pendulum)
