Analysis of two protest songs “who you are” by Jessie j, is an empowering song about being true to yourself and loving who you are that has inspired many people. The genre is soft rock, Jessie j wrote this song after a lonely trip when she was 20, emphasising everything she was saying was coming from her heart. The music video just stars Jessie j in the same room throughout, which was inspired by the one for Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U. “This makes us play more attention to the lyrics and deep what she is singing. Jessie j is wearing a black bodysuit with a white see through top over the top, these colours have connotations of power and elegance. The video uses very dull colours, a bathroom is visible through the mirror above left of the bed, jewellery at the end of the bed and many lamps.
