Data Sheet Lariam® Mefloquine hydrochloride Antimalarial Composition One cross-scored tablet contains: Active ingredient 274.09 mg racemic mefloquine hydrochloride, equivalent to 250 mg mefloquine base Excipients Poloxamer 3800, microcrystalline cellulose, lactose, maize starch, crospovidone, ammonium calcium alginate, talc and magnesium stearate. Appearance Lariam 250 mg tablets are white, cross-scored cylindrical and biplane, marked "RO", "C", "HE" and an imprinted hexagon on one side. Clinical Particulars Therapeutic Indications Chemoprophylaxis, therapy and stand-by treatment of malaria. Chemoprophylaxis Chemoprophylaxis with Lariam is recommended for travellers to malarious areas, particularly those travelling to areas where there is a high risk of infection with strains of P. falciparum resistant to other antimalarials.
