Execu ve Briefing 07/19 Top 50 European dealer groups – backbone of future networks? By Pascal Haubenreißer The development of larger dealer groups organically and through acquisition is a well-established trend which has accelerated in recent years. ICDP tracks these changes alongside our annual survey of manufacturer sales and service networks, published in our European Car Distribution Handbook (ECDH). Together these provide the backdrop for looking at the development of future retail and aftersales networks and the scale of change required to meet these needs. Whilst both sales and service networks keep shrinking steadily, although at a slow pace, the largest European dealer groups have experienced strong growth in the major indicators. Their scale and sophistication could serve as the foundation to manage the transition to a new role in omni-channel retailing.
