Menu: This is a list of the content of the magazine. Pugs: These are used to catch the reader’s eye, they are well placed, often in the top right and top left corners. They often contain things like prices, logos and key stories. Secondary Lead: A sneak preview of an article or story, usually containing a picture. Sidebar: An additional box next to the main feature of the magazine. Splash: The main story of the front page accompanied with the headline and a photograph. Stand first: Sentence after a headline and before an article begins that ‘sells’ a feature to a reader. Strapline: Subheading (heading below the initial heading).
