The practice has a devastating impact on the environment by destroying the homes of millions of species, and also threatens the native communities' livelihoods and ancestral traditions. It is also considered one of the contributing factors in global climate change, soil erosion, and flooding. “Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+)” is a global programme aimed at providing solutions to deforestation. REDD+ creates financial incentives for developing countries for improving conservation, sustainable management of forests, and for enhancement of forest carbon stocks.
