We must do so again to ensure we can continue to publish The Ashfield News. Donations from readers in late 2021 helped fuel us through more than two dozen issues. But as 2023 draws to a close, those resources are largely depleted, due to a small but stubborn structural deficit in the newspaper’s budget. In the first eight months of this year, we took in $6,592.60 in advertising revenue and $345 in donations. Our revenue was also lifted by $945 in subscriptions for papers mailed to readers outside of town. That’s a healthy flow of support for a nonprofit newspaper run entirely by volunteers. But the cost of printing The Ashfield News every month exceeds that revenue by about $450 every 30 days. From Ja
