Starting July 1, the monthly rate for fiber optic internet service will drop from $85 to $65. This will reduce internet costs by $240 per year per household. The Select Board, acting as the board of the so-called Municipal Light Plant, approved a rate reduction on May 19 after the approval of the $720,000 enterprise fund budget at Annual Town Meeting on May 3. The primary reason for the rate reduction is that the $2.4 million borrowed to build the $3.7 million network has been fully paid, thanks to good fiscal management by the Select Board.
