Harris this year, I have found myself reflecting on the extraordinary legacy of this man (1951– 2026) and his mother, Norma Louise (Day) Harris (1926–2014). Together, they devoted their lives to preserving Ashfield’s history, architecture and its unique sense of place. I’ve also been thinking of one of Stuart’s ambitious unfinished projects, which today needs a steward — preservation of the Evans Grist Mill. Stuart was an accomplished architec- tural historian, preservation wood worker and restoration contractor.
