Small tables, inside and outside, are filled with locals and out-of-towners catching up over coffee or enjoying the restaurant’s full breakfasts. In the back of the room, eight women are eating freshly baked muffins as they write letters to North Carolina residents encouraging them to vote. Two hours later, the same tables are covered with needles and threads — the tools of a dozen women who gather every Friday at the café as part of a Crafter Noon meetup group.
