Choral Evensong and Procession The Feast of Saint Mary the Virgin • 20 August 2026 • 5:30 PM Precentor’s Notes on this Evening’s Liturgy very day, visitors and members of the Grace Cathedral community come to pray seeking comfort, peace, E and a renewed sense of God’s compassion at various stations dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. From very early times, Christians have revered Mary for her willingness to bear the Christ child and her ever-faithful journey with her son through his growth into adulthood, his ministry, passion, crucifixion, resurrection, ascension, the arrival of the Holy Spirit, and her ongoing engagement in the life of the early Church. As Christianity spread globally, Mary has appeared to the faithful in both pre-existing spiritual traditions and in numerous newly planted Christian communities.
