Evening Prayer EASTER WEEK • 5:30 PM Evening Prayer, part of the daily cycle of prayer, offers the opportunity to turn from the day’s labor to the peace and rest of the evening. With psalms. canticles, and scripture readings, we let our prayers rise as incense before God, and join the praises of the whole creation. Texts are taken from Enriching Our Worship, and The Book of Common Prayer (1979) with canticles from the Brotherhood of Saint Gregory. The people stand with the officiant. OPENING SENTENCE Jesus said, “I Officiant am the light of the world; whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” The Invitatory and Psalter PRECES The people remain standing. O God, make Officiant speed to save us. People O Lord, make haste to help us. Praise to the holy and undivided Trinity, one God: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia. 1
