« THE BURNING MONK » This picture represents Thich Quang Duc, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk who is burning down. The photo was taken by Malcolm Browne an American journalist and reporter who was born in April 17th 1931 in New York and died in April 27th 2012 at the age of 81. He won a Pulitzer Price for this photograph of the monk’s death. The Vietnamese monk decided to burn himself to death to denounce the persecution of the Buddhist by the South Vietnamese government. Indeed, the Vietnam president in charge at this time was catholic. He forced and encouraged his people to change their religion. A persecution of the Buddhist began. Facing this violence, however, Thich Quang Duc decided to keep believing in his religion no matter what. After his death, when the photos released, a wave of shock hit the world. John F.
