Vol 23 l Issue 12 Bank raid ends in car blaze drama AN attempted raid on a village bank ended with two vehicles being set on fire. Police were called out at 9.10am to reports of a robbery at the HSBC bank on Station Road, Hesketh Bank. When officers arrived the raiders had made their escape after abandoning and setting ablaze two vehicles. It is believed they fled empty handed. One of the vehicles, a dark-coloured BMW, was set alight adjacent to the bank's doorway while the other car was found burning on nearby Fermor Road. A spokesperson for HSBC said: “A male masked intruder smashed through a door at 9.10am before the bank was due to open at 9.30am, with a rock or piece of paving slab. “A female member of staff was servicing the ATM at the time but she was uninjured and the robbery was unsuccessful, with the intruder(s) taking nothing.” No bank staff were injured in the attemp
