www.champnews.com ANFIELD & WALTON 23 March 2016 Volunteers transform community garden Act of kindness goes viral PARK PROTEST GROUP STAGE NEW DEMO A PROTEST was held in Walton Hall Park last weekend as campaigners came together to deliver the message: 'Save Our Park'. A group staged a demonstration on Sunday in wake of fresh threats to the green area due to recent developments at Everton FC which saw a billionaire businessman agree to buy 49.9% of the club. In 2014, Blues chairman Bill Kenwright revealed a proposal to build a new stadium in the 120-acre park which sparked opposition from local residents who have since lobbied both Everton FC and Liver- pool City Council to backtrack on the plans. Campaigners view the recent deal, which saw Ira- nian billionaire Farhad Moshiri invest at Goodison Park, as potentially increasing the chances of a huge development at Walton Hall Park. It remains unclear if the club will continue with plans to build a new stadium or look at other options. C
