Police officers from Lancashire Constabulary were called out at 9.10am to reports of a robbery at the HSBC branch on Station Road, Hesketh Bank. When officers arrived the raiders had already made their escape after abandoning and setting ablaze two vehicles. One, a dark-coloured BMW, was left flaming next to the bank's doorway while the other car was believed to have been found burn- ing on Fermor Road. A spokesperson for HSBC said: “A male masked intruder smashed through the door at 9.10am before the bank was due to open at 9.30am, with a rock or piece of paving slab. “A female member of staff was servicing the ATM at the time but she was not injured and
