An application to build up to 130 houses plus some industrial units on the old Norgren factory site was unanimously rejected by Stratford District Council’s planning committee at a meeting on the 5th July. Shipston Town Councillors attended the planning meeting and explained why they had opposed the proposals. In addition to concerns over lack of infrastructure to support the proposed new homes, Shipston Town Council objected to the plans because of their potential visual and landscape impact and expressed concern that the development could result in an isolated hilltop settlement. Councillor Paul Rathkey, who spoke on behalf of the Town Council at the meeting, said "We believe Stratford District Councillors have made the right decision to unanimously reject the Cala Homes proposal. The Town Council’s policy is to reject major development on the Campden Road.
