North Carolina based General Microcircuits has had a successful model of transitioning the manufacture of their customer's electronic projects to low cost, off-shore Asian alliance partners for years. But when the US economy was reeling into the great recession in 2009, GMI needed to find a near-shore, lower cost solution in this hemisphere to accommodate market pressures of shortened lead-times for manufacturing and a solution to reduce transit time and overcome increasing logistics costs.
