Late night wreck claims driver’s life Local emergency responders were called to Brownfield Rehabilitation and Care Center just after 1 a.m. Wednesday after multiple callers advised that a vehicle had struck the nursing home. Police, paramedics, and fire fighters responded to the scene and found a 2016 Jeep on its side, a 2017 Dodge damaged, and a hole in the building’s front facade. The driver of the Jeep, 34-year-old Michael Barber of Lubbock, did not survive the accident and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Terry County Justice of the Peace Angie Garza. A police report obtained by the Brownfield News indicated that Barber was driving home from work in the oilfield and possibly fell asleep behind the wheel, causing the accident. The other driver was not injured, nor were any residents of the nursing home. Brownfield News THE www.brownfieldonline.com 10 PAGES VOLUME 111, NO 46 SUNDAY, JUNE 10, 2018 Fire up the grill!
