2020 NSW Regent Honeyeater Captive Release Update #2 Hi everyone (Regent Honeyeater email group), grouped together and interacting. This includes a post-release record of five captive birds associating This second update comes just under a fortnight together on the 30th, feeding in flowering Spotted since the first ever large-scale release of captive- Gum and foraging for insects under the bark of a bred Regent Honeyeaters in NSW took place. Ferguson’s Ironbark. Without revealing the exact location of the release site, it can be said that the area in the Lower Hunter where the release occurred is markedly different to that of the previous Chiltern releases. The primary difference is the link to continuous (and rugged) habitat stretching for over 100 kilometres. With that being said, it is heartening to report a successful first fortnight of post-release monitoring. A total of 20 captive-bred Regent Honeyeaters were released in two batches.
