2020 NSW Regent Honeyeater Captive Release Update #1 Hi everyone (Regent Honeyeater email group), For the past decade the Regent Honeyeater recovery team has undertaken captive releases in north-east Victoria. In that time we’ve had some great successes, incredible community support, and achieved a lot for Regent Honeyeater conservation. As many would know, the team made the decision a couple of years ago to shift the release focus to Dean Ingwersen holding a bird fitted with a radio transmitter, NSW, with the aim of releasing birds into locations resplendent in COVID attire holding more wild birds. Frustratingly, our first attempt to release into the Capertee Valley last year had to be aborted when the drought caused Colour bands flowering to fail.
