2020 NSW Regent Honeyeater Captive Release Update #3 PYYM on 12/7/20) – flying in to perch right beside Hi everyone (Regent Honeyeater email group), the captive female and call to them. Hopefully a sign of things to come! Our third update comes almost four weeks since the first large-scale NSW captive release of Regent Honeyeaters. In the fortnight since our last update we have observed several very positive interactions between captive and wild birds, but also the unfortunate loss of another bird to predation, just a couple of days ago. A brief outline of the monitoring situation as of July 14 is as follows: • 7 x birds carrying functioning transmitters and regularly re-sighted • 3 x deceased birds (all predation) • 1 x uncertain - no definite signal since the July 8 • 1 x dropped transmitter; bird sighted twice since transmitter dropped on June 24 • 1 x transmitter not functioning properly/ external interference blocking signal Following on from the previous update, it was promising
