BirdLife Tasmania Committee meeting, 22 June 2026 We welcomed Prof. Jay Johnston as the new Secretary. The committee reviewed actions from the previous meeting, confirmed upcoming events and advanced several conservation priorities. A range of existing actions were discussed including: • Reports on the successful Bruny Island Bird Festival for Yellow Throat • Progress on the 2026 Action Plan. • Arrangements for a talk by Geof Shannon at Launceston Church Grammer to support Paul Richard’s forth-coming publication on Frank Mervyn Littler. • Update on the progress of the Glenorchy Bird Walk brochure which has received enthusiastic support from Glenorchy City Lord Mayor Sue Hickey. • Paul Brooks has stepped in as southern Outings coordinator while Chris Herbert is overseas. • Establishment of a BLT Rarities Assessment Committee email (rarebirdstas@birdlife.org.au) to provide direct communications with observers. • Submissions were made to the draft Threatened Species Strategy and Cat Mange
