BirdLife Tasmania Outing reports Rokeby Hills: July 2026 Paul Brooks Bird List Four birders convened at the northern end of Rokeby Hills Reserve on a clear, chilly Superb Fairywren morning, to the sound of New Holland Honeyeaters and Little Wattlebirds. The walk Eastern Spinebill up the hill from the entrance to the top of the ridge was rather quiet with only a cou- Little Wattlebird (heard only) ple of Grey Currawongs showing, but once we reached the ridgeline, the activity New Holland Honeyeater picked up, and we could hear Brown Thornbill, Spotted Pardalote and Silvereye all (heard only) around us. A pair of Scarlet Robins skirted the edge of a clearing, and we could hear Yellow-throated Honeyeater a pair of Australian Golden Whistlers calling to each other. We tried some imitations (E) of the birds’ contact call and soon the female, then the male, appeared and gave us Black-headed Honeyeater (E) lovely views.
