Analysis Of An Opening Scene - The Frozen Ground Frozen ground is a crime based thriller set on real life events of a young woman who runs from serial killer Robert Hansen. The opening sequence is of course used to introduce the character, we see the young female sitting in the polices station waiting to be interviewed, at first she seems very calm and assured, however this changes as she tells her story, she very quickly becomes emotional and subdued emphasising the trauma of her story. She tells her story to police officer Robert Hansen who holds himself as reassured and confident even under direct questions from the female before she tells her story and his character that the story follows into the film. Mise-en-scene The mise-en-scene of the scene is aimed at featuring the mystery and uncertainty of the film as a whole. Low-key lighting is used to create a dark atmosphere of the police station, which when matched with the very cluttered but basic office area the character is seated
