ISSUE NO. 2 SPRING 2015 With Earth Day quickly approaching, (Wednesday, April 22nd), now is the time to get excited about this year’s Upper Peninsula State Fair. The theme of the 2015 Fair, “Mother Nature’s Open House”, will be a representation of the significance the environment and agriculture has in the region. Our home peninsula has a strong sense of respect for nature, portrayed by our affection and dependence of farming, animal breeding, sustainable forestry and the role these industries have played in our history. Like the roots of a Michigan White pine grow deep into the earth , the foundation of our way of life as Yoopers is footed by our appreciation of nature. The Upper Peninsula State Fair (August 17th - 23rd) is the largest annual event of its kind in the region and a celebration of the collaborative effort by all U.P. communities. 2015 marks the 6th year of independent operation after the State handed over control to the Upper Peninsula State Fair Authority, comprised of
