Frequent Remittance Lobby
Following the recently concluded East Africa APJC that was held in Dar es salaam,
Tanzania on the 17th
of March, 2014 the KATA secretariat has been holding discussions
with the various airlines that have continued to push for frequent remittance as a
change to the financial criteria for Kenya BSP.
In accordance with the provisions of the applicable IATA Resolutions, KATA has pushed
for the establishment of a Financial Advisory Group (FAG) to conduct a study of the
Kenyan market with a view to ascertaining and reporting back to the APJC on whether
this market is ready for a twice monthly remittance schedule.
The FAG has been given a period of Ninety (90) days to conclude its study after which
the APJC will then make a determination on the way forward.
So far, several meetings have been held between Airline and Agent representatives to
allow for an industry study that will determine whether our market is ready for frequent
remittance or not.
